What fasting protocols does StayFasted support? +
StayFasted supports 16:8, 18:6, 20:4, OMAD (One Meal A Day), 24-hour, 36-hour, 48-hour, and 72-hour fasting protocols. You can also create custom fasting durations. The app is designed to support both intermittent fasting and extended multi-day fasts.
Do I need an internet connection? +
No. StayFasted works entirely offline. All features, including AI coaching (on supported devices), fasting timer, check-ins, and education content, work without an internet connection. The only feature that benefits from connectivity is weather-based activity suggestions.
Is my data private? +
Yes. All your data is stored exclusively on your device. There is no account, no cloud sync, and no server that stores your information. Your fasting history, check-in notes, AI conversations, and health data never leave your iPhone. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
How does the AI coaching work? +
On devices running iOS 26+ with Apple Intelligence, StayFasted uses Apple's on-device Foundation Models to generate personalized coaching responses. The AI considers your current mood, your fasting stage, your personal notes, and your "Why" profile to craft relevant, supportive responses. All processing happens on your iPhone's neural engine. On older devices, the app uses a curated response system that still personalizes based on your context.
What devices are supported? +
StayFasted requires iOS 18.0 or later. For the full on-device AI coaching experience, iOS 26+ with Apple Intelligence is recommended (iPhone 15 Pro or later). The app works on all iPhones running iOS 18+, but AI features may use the curated response system on older devices.
How do I delete my data? +
Go to Settings within the app and tap "Reset All Data." This permanently deletes all fasting history, check-ins, photos, and preferences. Alternatively, uninstalling the app removes all data. Since nothing is stored externally, deletion is immediate and complete.
How does Apple Health integration work? +
If you grant permission, StayFasted reads weight, steps, sleep, and resting heart rate from Apple Health to provide context during your fasts. This data is displayed within the app but is never transmitted externally. You can disconnect Apple Health at any time in Settings.
What is the refeed guide? +
The refeed guide provides step-by-step guidance for safely breaking extended fasts (24+ hours). It recommends what to eat, when, and in what order to avoid refeeding syndrome and digestive discomfort. This is especially important for 48+ hour fasts where jumping straight to a large meal can be dangerous.
I found a bug. How do I report it? +
Email us at stayfasted.app@gmail.com with a description of what happened, what you expected to happen, and your iPhone model and iOS version. Screenshots are helpful. We take every bug report seriously and typically fix critical issues within 24-48 hours.
Can I request a feature? +
Absolutely. Email stayfasted.app@gmail.com with your idea. We actively build features based on user feedback. Many of our current features (the adherence grid, the refeed guide, the rhythm planner) came from user requests during beta testing.

Troubleshooting

Timer not updating in background

The fasting timer runs continuously even when the app is closed. If the elapsed time appears incorrect, force-close and reopen the app. The timer recalculates from the stored start time on every launch.

Notifications not appearing

Go to iPhone Settings > StayFasted > Notifications and ensure they are enabled. Check that Do Not Disturb or Focus modes are not silencing alerts during your fasting hours.

AI coaching says "pre-written response"

On-device AI coaching requires iOS 26+ with Apple Intelligence on a compatible device (iPhone 15 Pro or later). On other devices, the app uses a personalized curated response system that still adapts to your mood and fasting stage.

Apple Health data not showing

Go to iPhone Settings > Health > Data Access & Devices > StayFasted and ensure all categories are enabled. Then restart the app. Health data syncs on each app launch.

How to reset the app completely

Open StayFasted > More > Settings > Reset All Data. This erases everything and returns the app to its initial state. This cannot be undone.
